Matthew Champion
Matthew Champion is working towards a PhD on perceptions of time in the Burgundian Low Countries in the fifteenth century, under the supervision of Prof. Miri Rubin. His current research invesigates how liturgy, devotional objects, music and civic ritual structured the experience of time, as well as the history of late-medieval calendar reform and the effects of emotions and early-print cultures on the perception of time.
Originally from Australia, he completed a research MA in Medieval and Early Modern History under Prof. Charles Zika at the University of Melbourne and holds bachelors degrees in Arts and Music (performance). Matthew combines his PhD with research with work as a singer and choral director.
