Medieval Studies thrive at Queen Mary as an often interdisciplinary pursuit which combines the medievalist's unique skills and an openness to a wide range of influences.
Areas of interest range from the history of the crusades to that of universities, from religious culture to the Jewish-Christian relations, from the social history of medieval Egypt to the earliest history of Black Africans in Europe.
All these areas of expertise feed into our teaching on the BA in History and the BA in Medieval History. At MA level, within the MA in History and the MA Islam and the West, several pathways allow students to pursue medieval interests and develop skills.
