London Society for Medieval StudiesThe London Society for Medieval Studies organizes talks at the Institute of Historical Research. Speakers are invited from London and other British universities, and the committee also aim to host speakers from abroad. All those attending events are invited to dine with the speaker and/or join him or her for drinks, usually after the talks. The Society thus also provides an opportunity for postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers to meet each other, and established academics, in a social setting. The talks are funded entirely by members' annual subscriptions and guest charges, which are used to cover travelling costs and dinner for the speakers.
